Much of Cimatori's career was spent under the protection of the della Rovere dukes of Urbino. He is documented in Rome, Pesaro, Urbino and Rimini. Vitali, 'Antonio Cimatori detto Visacci' in A. Massari and M. Cellini, eds., Nel Segno di Barocci: Allieve e seguaci tra Marche, Umbria, Siena, Milan, 2005, p. 105).
