The moulded gris St. Anne marble top above three short drawers and two long drawers with later emperor's head handles, between canted trompe-l'oeil fluted angles, on cabriole legs and foliate-scroll feet, stamped 'P-H MEWESEN JME', old repairs to marble

Lot Essay

Pierre-Harry Mewesen, maître in 1766.

Of Scandinavian origin, Mewesen worked in Paris, rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine until the Revolution, focussing predominantly on Transitional and Louis XVI pieces. Mewesen is well-known for his use of geometric and cube marquetry, as illustrated in the present lot.
