The king wearing armor over his white jama, his face backed by a green halo, holding a lance and seated on his gray steed, accompanied by his retinue on foot bearing various ceremonial weapons and symbols of nobility, including the chattri, morchhal and flywhisk, all in a landscape against a blue sky, enclosed by red borders, an inscription in Devanagari on the verso

Lot Essay

The inscription on the reverse translates to "Ram Singh Ji Kotah. The procession going to worship Hanum-ji on the occasion of Vijay Dashmi, 1989 (i.e. 1841)."
