A WHITE AND RUSSET JADE RECTANGULAR BEAD
LATE EASTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, 4TH-3RD CENTURY BC
Of semi-translucent white stone with some russet alteration, the two sides well carved in low relief with comma and C-scrolls, and the narrow sides and ends carved with shallow angular notches, pierced lengthwise, with high polish; together with a small semi-translucent white jade bi, late Eastern Zhou dynasty, both sides finely carved with tiny comma spirals within narrow borders, with extensive opaque ivory alteration on one side, with fine high polish
Bead 2 5/16 in. (5.8 cm.) long; bi 2½ in. (6.3 cm.) diam. (2)
