AN UNUSUAL CARVED THREE-COLOR LACQUER RUYI SCEPTER
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The ruyi-shaped head carved through the red and green layers to the ochre ground with a Daoist immortal holding a lotus stem while standing in a landscape below a conjoined scroll border, the shaped handle carved with archaistic scrolls, a bat suspending a wan emblem and a beribboned chime amidst vapor in the center section, and a bat in the ruyi-shaped tip, with key fret on the sides and diaper pattern on the reverse, yellow silk tassel
