A Meissen-patterned Samson Paris porcelain polychrome ornithological oval butterdish and cover
19th Century, marked in underglaze blue with tiny pseudo crossed swords
Naturalistically modelled in relief in the trompe l'oeil-style, after a model by J.J. Kaendler, the cover decorated with a brown-ground feathery bird with small head, the butterdish modelled as a bird's nest and enhanced with a side of duck-weed (kroos)
