Lot Essay

Eben Comins was a Boston-born artist who is remembered for his dedication to the teaching of art. Throughout his life, he taught from his Boston studio, at the Saint Paul School of Fine Arts, Saint Paul, Minnesota, Wellesley College, Wellesley, Massachusetts and the Swain School of Design in New Bedford, Connecticut. In 1915, Comins received a gold medal at the Panama Exposition for his contributions to teaching art.
