Decorated overall with gadrooned mouldings, the hinged slope enclosing a fitted interior with three drawers and three open compartments, above a long drawer, with carrying handles to the sides

Lot Essay

The base of the miniature bureau bookcase in the Rijksmuseum (see note to the previous lot) bears a striking resemblence to the present box. It is likely that the Rijksmuseum bookcase, lot 190 and the present lot were executed in the same Chinese workshop in Batavia.
