The case of typical form, with giltwood figural finials, the door and plinth with small band-inlay, ormolu lenticle mount depicting the rape of Europa, on scrolled feet, the brass dial with foliate mask spandrels, painted moonphase to the arch, silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with silvered subsidiary seconds ring, alarm disc, signature plaque signed Wm Smith London and date aperture, the five pillar movement with anchor escapement, Dutch strike and alarm on two bells; pendulum, three weights, door key, crank key
