A scene from Firdawsi's Shahnama, gouache heightened with gold on paper, Rustam sits cross legged in a clearing roasting an animal on a spit, three attendants kneel around him, a number of gold vessels and dishes before them, Rustam's horse Rakhsh stands drinking from a silver stream in the lower right hand corner, with leafy and rocky landscape above and extending into the margin from which Bahman looks on, catchword in the lower left hand corner, areas of repainting, mounted, framed and glazed
