PULL QUOTE:
I discovered Berlin has a different spirit to the rest of Germany. There was a lightness as well as the heaviness. The photograph I made of the radiator harked back to the kinkiness of the Weimar Republic. It could have been at the back of a cabaret or in a detention room for the Gestapo.
