An ivory plaque depicting a portrait of Count Grigorii Orlov
Russia, late 18th century
Rectangular, the profile portrait carved in relief, facing left with sash and order, with a shaped oval border of pierced floral scroll and trelliswork, with plain rectangular border pierced for stitching together with a plain rectangular ivory backing, with later black silk lining, apparently unmarked
6 1/8 in. (15.7 cm.) high
