Lot Essay

We are grateful to Prof. Schnackenburg for confirming the attribution on the basis of photographs (written communication, 7 August 2009). He compares the picture to a work by Van Ostade's younger brother, Isaac, dated 1641, in the Kunstmuseum, Basel.
