A LARGE QAJAR PIERCED OPENWORK BRASS CANDLESTICK, IRAN, 19TH CENTURY
Of tapering form on a gently flaring base, formed of two seperable sections, solid base, stem walls pierced to form a net of foliage, stem divided into four sections by circular bands, both stem and base interspersed with round, oblong, and lozenge-shaped cartouches of animals, birds, mythological creatures, human figures in various postures such as sitting or hunting on horseback, naskh inscription around base and on border of two of the four stem sections - 33½in.high (77·5cm)
