A SINO-ARABIC CALLIGRAPHIC BOAT, SALIH LI WEN CHAI (1935-2002)
Black ink on paper, the central design in the form of a boat, the Arabic inscription translated as Love of the homeland stems from belief, in Chinese characters to right, the name of the artist and his seal to left, glazed and framed - 22 1/4 x 41 1/2in (57 x 105.5cm)

Lot Essay

Salih was born in Qingyuan in Hebei province. For most of his working like he was editor of the Chinese Muslim Journal in Beijing. His work was exhibited outside China in Jakarta (1989), Kuala Lumpur (1996), Tehran (1997), and Islamabad 2000.
