Born in Taiwan in 1977, Anna Hu grew up traveling the world with her gem dealer father, in his quest for rare stones. A child musical prodigy, Anna won several awards as a cellist but after a shoulder injury, Anna turned her attention once again to precious stones. After gaining her GIA qualification as well as two masters degrees, Anna worked with Christie's, Van Cleef and Arpels and Harry Winston where she met the head designer Maurice Galli who encouraged her to create her own line after taking her on as his only private student.
The first Anna Hu boutique opened in Taiwan in 2007, when she was just 29 years old. The second exclusive jewellery boutique was unveiled in December 2008, at the Plaza Retail Collection in New York, where the designer now resides with her family.

Further details
Hu named her splendid earrings after Queen Alexandrina Victoria of Great Britain after seeing Thomas Scully's elegant portrait of a young Victoria on exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York as a student. Years later, while designing the "Modern Regina" collection, Hu imagined giving the Queen a pair of contemporary earrings which resulted in this beautiful creation.
