A CONTINENTAL SILVER-MOUNTED FRAME CONTAINING TWO PORTRAIT MINIATURES
Don Joaquin Antonio de Palafox y Centurion (1702-1755), in gilt-embroidered blue coat, salmon waistcoat, frilled lace cravat, powdered hair en queue; together with his wife, Doña Maria Ana de Croy y Lante de la Rovere, in blue robe à la française with lace trim, gem-set earrings, a bejewelled cap adorning her powdered hair; both miniatures by the same hand, Spanish School, circa 1760
on ivory
the frame, 6 in. (152 mm.) wide; the miniatures, 1 13/16 in. (46 mm.) high, engraved silver mounts
A paper label inscribed with the sitters' biographical details is attached to the reverse of the frame.
