Commissioned by Sir Hugh Smithson, 1st Duke of Northumberland and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of the 7th Duke of Somerset, for Syon House, Middlesex; and by descent with the Dukes of Northumberland until sold, Syon Park, Sotheby's house sale, 14-16 May 1997, lots 22 and 23 (part lot each).
