MARK OF MAPPIN AND WEBB, BIRMINGHAM, 1951
Shaped oblong and on scroll feet, the hinged cover engraved with lines and chequerboard motifs and a coat-of-arms, the front engraved with an inscription, wood lined marked on side and cover
10½ in. (26.6 cm.) wide
The arms are the colonial arms of the City of Singapore
The inscription reads 'CITY OF SINGAPORE Presented to HER ROYAL HIGHNESS THE DUCHESS OF KENT, C.I., G.C.V.O., G.B.E. on the occasion of her admission to the ROLL OF HONORARY FREEMEN OF THE CITY 1st OCTOBER 1952'.

Presented to Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent (1906-1968) on the ocassion of her visit to Singapore.

The Duchess of Kent, accompanied by H.R.H. Prince Edward, Duke of Kent arrived in Singapore on 30 September 1952 at the start of a tour that was to encompass Malaysia, Borneo and Hong Kong.
