Oblong, chased and engraved overall with foliate scrolls on matted ground, the hinged cover with shaped thumbpiece and chased with a coat-of-arms, engraved with presentation inscription within oblong plaque, the interior fitted with three compartments and wood lining, marked on base indistinct marks
11 1/8in. (28.2 cm.) long
The inscription reads 'WITH BEST COMPLIMENTS From HIS MAJESTY SULTAN AZLAN SHAH THE YAND DI-PERTUAN AGONG IX. MALAYSIA'.

The arms are those of the Federation of Malaysia.

Lot Essay

Sultan Azlan Shah of Perak G.C.B., K.St.J. (b. 1928) ruled as 9th King of Malaysia from 1989 until 1994. He succeeded his uncle as Sultan of Perak in 1984.
