Rectangular silver box with rounded corners and gilt lining, the cover set with a tesserae plaque depicting a northeast view of the ruins on the Roman Forum, including the Arch of Septimus Severus, within silver-gilt mount, the sides and base of the box chased with horizontal reeding, raised incorporated thumbpiece chased with scrolling foliage
