A GERMAN PORCELAIN GILT-METAL MOUNTED OVAL SNUFF-BOX AND COVER
CIRCA 1770, PROBABLY BERLIN (KPM), THE MOUNT PROBABLY CONTEMPORARY
The cover, sides and base painted with equestrian figures, fishermen and travellers before turreted buildings in wooded landscapes, within scroll and shell-moulded shaped cartouches enriched in pale-green and lilac and outlined in gilt, the ground moulded with flower-sprays, the interior of the hinged cover painted with a seated lady and two gentleman seated in a wooded landscape beside their horses and grooms (traces of adhesive around mount at hinge and front rim of box, minute wear to gilding and surface scratching to footrim)
