Lot Essay

Paul Walther, (1876-1933), studied at the Drawing School of the Meissen factory and also carried out his apprenticeship there, becoming model maker in 1906. He was one of the artists creating works in the modern style, including a variety of birds and animal groups. Cf. Dr. K. Berling, (ed.), Meissen China, an Illustrated History, color Table 37, no. 6.
