Lot Essay

Though little is known about Léon Kahn and his oeuvre, his signed works were heavily influenced by the 18th century ébénistes, including Weisweiler, Cressent and Gaudreaux. A bureau au rognon by Kahn, also in the manner of Weisweiler, was sold at Sotheby's, New York, 24 October 2007, Lot 460 ($37,000).
