Lot Essay

The city of Kashan in central Persia has been an important and prolific artistic center for over 400 years. According to carpet lore, the Mohtasham family workshops produced the finest carpets in the city of Kashan during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The excellent condition of this lot with its full pile enhances the balance of design and color, lustrous wool and finesse of weave that epitomize the high quality of Mohtasham Kashan carpets.
