AUSTRALIAN TOUR, 1928-29
A photograph of the tour ship, S.S. Ormonde, mouted on card, with autographs of the Engand team around border (slight paper split along bottom margin of mount, small nicks) -- image 108 x 155mm, with mount 203 x 254mm. Provenance: Captain L.V. James of the Orontes (his gift to the vendor).
Signed by A.P.F. Chapman, F.C. Toone (manager), D.R. Jardine, Leslie G. Ames, W.R. Hammond, H. Larwood, P. Mead, J.B. Hobbs, E.P. Hendren, Herbert Sutcliffe, Maurice Tate, M. Leyland, G. Geary, J.C. White, Geo. Duckworth, A.P. Freeman and E. Tyldesley, also S.J. Southerton of Reuters (18 signatures). This was one of the most successful and popular touring sides, winning the first four Tests and only losing the last by five wickets. Hammond made four centuries in his introduction to Test cricket, two in the same match. Bradman, also on debut for Australia, was actualy dropped for one Test.
