FIRST EDITION. One of the few contemporary accounts of life in Russia during the reign of the first Romanov Tsar, written by an official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who was also a spy for Sweden, whither he fled via Lithuania in 1664. This text is based on the original manuscript examined in Upsala by Professor Solov'ev in 1837-38. Burtsev 1312.
