MAP -- Pochtovaia Karta Rossiiskoi Imperii. [Postal Map of the Russian Empire.] St. Petersburg: War-Topographical Department, 1842. Large lithographic map after A. Makarov in 2 parts (European Russia: 1285 x 1200mm); Asian Russia: 640 x 930mm), hand-coloured in outline, dissected into 48 and 18 sections mounted on purple cloth. (Light browning and light offsetting.) Contemporary marbled-paper chemise and slipcase (bottom end of slipcase detached and perhaps repaired). Provenance: a Russian noble (green paper labels with a princely crown on map versos).
