A group of five antique hardstone intaglio and cameo rings
Comprising: a hardstone cameo carved as the head of a bearded man in profile facing right, probably Roman, in later shaped bezel and ring mount; a three quarter fragment intaglio in low relief depicting the head of Zeus Serapis facing three-quarter left wearing kalathos with 0 in the field, possibly a wreath, Roman 1st. century A.D. in swivel mount with reeded bezel and hoop; an oval onyx intaglio of a wolf walking right on ground line with head lowered, Roman 1st/3rd century A.D. in later ring mount; an oval cornelian intaglio depicting a deer lying at the foot of a tree, Roman, 1st./2nd century A.D., in later ring mount; and an oval agate cameo carved as the head and torso of St. Peter, three quarter facing, holding the keys of Paradise, probably 16th century, backed by a later hardstone or paste, in later ring mount with bifurcated shoulders (5)
