AN EGYPTIAN FAIENCE SHABTI FOR PSAMTJEK
LATE PERIOD, DYNASTY XXVI, 664-525 B.C.
Standing on an integral plinth against a back pillar, depicted mummiform with the arms folded over the chest, holding agricultural implements in each hand, a seed sack over his left shoulder, wearing a tripartite wig and plaited false beard, inscribed with nine lines of hieroglyphs reading "Instructions of the Osiris, Justified, born of Amenirdis. He says: O these (sic) Shabty! If the Osiris , Justified, born of Amenirdis, is detailed in order to do any work...," the text continuing with a form of Chapter 6 from the Book of the Dead; together with the 1959 Parke-Bernet catalogue in which it is featured
