A Porcelain Cup And Saucer
by the Batenin Factory, St Petersburg, circa 1820
Cylindrical with flared rim, the gilt ciselé body decorated with a multi-coloured landscape depicting a palace on one river-bank, with a white Russian flag on a flagpole, a covered fishing boat on the river, and on the other river-bank a fishing net and three fishermen, two standing and one half lying down, framed within a gilt ciselé border, the handle with a moulded medallion scroll containing a star, the gilt ciselé circular saucer on conforming gilt foot, the outer border decorated with swags and flanked by two thin black bands, apparently unmarked
Cup 4¼ in. (10.9 cm.) high with handle, 6¾ in. (17.2 cm.) diameter (2)
