With Patek Philippe presentation box, Certificate of Origin, product literature and spare transparent case back.

In 2004 the firm of Patek Philippe manufactured a very special series of 5 limited edition wristwatches to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their relationship with George Pragnell ltd, one of the largest retailers of luxury watches in the United Kingdom based outside of London in Stratford upon Avon .

The present lot, one of these five extremely rare examples is fitted with the sought after black dial, Breguet numerals and "Cathedral" repeating mechanism, consisting of a high-tone and a low-tone gong translating into a much richer and fuller sound, resembling the chime of the bells of a cathedral.

Reference 5079 was introduced to the market in 2001 with the standard version being fitted with a white enamel dial (See lot 2654) and black numerals. The reference is fitted with the ingenious calibre R 27 PS that impresses not only by its remarkable number of 342 parts but also by Patek Philippe's mastery watch making by combining a micro-rotor and a minute repeating mechanism.
