The rectangular body engraved inside cover with The Judgement of Solomon, containing 2 silver inkwells & 2 compartments, inscribed ANo.DOM.1614, surmounted by a pen box engraved on cover with twin putti & fishing craft, the sides finely engraved with Renaissance hunting & fishing scenes, the interior of cover depicting Samson's smiting of the Philistines with the jawbone of an ass, raised on lion couchant feet
