A near pair of Chinese iron-red and gilt baluster vases
Kangxi (1662-1722)
Both of pear-shape on a high spreading foot and bulb neck, one decorated to the body with ruyi-shaped panels including chrysantemum-heads and lotus-scrolls, the other with ruyi-shaped panels including chrysanthemum-heads on an iron-red ground below a cell-pattern band, both painted with bands of upright leaves at the foot and the rim, base star-cracks and re-stuck rim chip
