Lot Essay

In 1945, Kashdan was given a solo show at the Redfern Gallery in London, through an introduction by Gustav Kahnweiler. Through this exhibition, Kashdan met Jankel Adler. Adler especially admired Kashdan's monotypes and they also inspired a long series of monotypes by Colquhoun.
Kashdan's monotypes were given a solo invitation exhibition in 1946 at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
