FIRST EDITION OF ONE OF THE BEST ENGLISH ACCOUNTS OF THE INTERIOR OF CENTRAL AMERICA. This work describes the Indians and natural history of the region. Wafer was a surgeon with the buccaneers who preyed on the Spanish colonies. The fine plates showing Indians are captioned: "Smoaking tobacco after their way," "Marching upon a visit or to feast," and "the Indians manner of bloodletting." "This work contains one of the best accounts of the Isthmus of Panama, of its natural resources, and of the native Indians" (Hill).
