With errata and appendix (title lightly soiled and lower corner lightly waterstained, margins of following few leaves lightly waterstained, severe but clean tear across N2 & N3 repaired, some light spotting, a few small ink stains). 19th-century half calf, spine ruled in gilt (extremities rubbed and scuffed, new endpapers). FIRST EDITION, RARE, volume I only of this 3 volume work. The second volume was published in 1815 and the third not until 1822. The first volume contains many of the well-known fairy tales such as Hänsel & Gretel, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and Sleeping Beauty. Osborne p.600 (lists the second edition of volume I & II only).
