The present examples were presumably painted in Northumberland, extending the geographical range of the artist beyond what was previously known of him. Said to be a pupil of Francis Hayman (Devon c.1708-1776 London), the present portraits by Lindo are in their original carved and pierced gilded frames and hung in the Drawing Room at Newton Hall, Northumberland.
