Lot Essay

Howard & Ayers illustrate a "Plume" teabowl and saucer, suggesting that, as the recorded pieces are so few, the lavender and yellow "Plume" pattern may have been just one large tea service. (China for the West, vol. I, p. 302). A teapot stand from the collection of Elizabeth Parke Firestone was sold Christie's, New York, 22 March 1991, lot 595.
