Each with domed diamond pattern and perforated lids, the larger with an acorn finial and the smaller with cylindrical body engraved with a coat-of-arms depicting a rampant lion, both silver form

Lot Essay

The larger caster is virtually identical to one from the Casimir Collection of Metalwork, sold Christie's, South Kensington, 23 January 2008, lot 311. Also see R. Gentle and R. Feild, Domestic Metalwork, rev. edn., 1994, p. 262, fig. 3 for this model.
