Lot Essay

This dish was probably intended for use as a tray; its decoration was likely based on a Dutch delft design. For another example in the Mottahedeh Collection, see Howard and Ayers, op. cit. vol. I, p. 76, no. 34. Others are in the collections of British Museum and in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
