Lot Essay

From a service made for Masoud Mirza Zil el-Sultan al Dowla, named Governor of Isfahan in 1874. See D. Nadler, China to Order, pp. 171-173, where the author notes that the inscription, "bearing his name and date A.H. 1297 (A.D. 1879)....(is) replete with complimentary titles and highly laudatory of the prince."
