Lot Essay

The picturesque urn-pillared lights, with their garlands and foliage, derive from a George III French-fashioned pattern for a bronze hexagonal chandelier issued in the third edition of Thomas Chippendale's, Gentleman and Cabinet-Makers Director, 1762 (pl. 154).
