Lot Essay

The engraved 'C.C.' monogram probably relates to the Compton Cavendish Family. Similar linked monograms are found on the lamp posts in Cavendish square, London. Charles Compton William Cavendish, 3rd Baron Chesham would fit with the dating of the copper.
