Lot Essay

A. Bowett notes that case furniture with carcase cockbeading, as in the present example (and also on lot 38) is likely to date no earlier than 1730 and rarely found on furniture after 1740 (A. Bowett, Early Georgian Furniture 1715-1740, Woodbridge, 2009, p. 100, plate 3:12).
