Lot Essay
This type of coffor bach belongs to a small group attributed to the Gower Peninsula whose carved detail typically consists of tulip heads, daisy-like flowers and stylised birds upon the drawer. A virtually identical example is illustrated in P. Havard, 'The Gower Coffor Bach', Regional Furniture, Vol. VI, 1992, p.89, fig. 3. An almost identical coffor bach was sold in the first Parry Collection, Christie's, London, 24 April 1997, lot 219 (£7,475).
