The smiling, bearded immortal shown seated on a separate soapstone base carved as pierced rockwork, holding a ruyi sceptre in his right hand, wearing robes tied with a long tasseled cord and incised with clouds, peach sprays and shou characters, the stone of mottled ivory and reddish color with a pure ivory-colored area used to carve his bald head
