A BRONZE RITUAL WINE VESSEL, GU
SHANG DYNASTY, 13TH CENTURY BC
The trumpet-shaped upper section cast with four blades filled with leiwen above a band of serpents with angular arched bodies, the middle section with two taotie masks divided and separated by notched flanges repeated on the spreading lower section which is cast with a band of tigers shown in profile above two further taotie masks, with an inscription cast inside the foot
