Lot Essay

No other bowl of this design appears to be published. There is a smaller Yongzheng-marked bowl (11.8 cm) covered inside and out with a similar buff-colored glaze but without any incised decoration, from the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in Kangxi. Yongzheng. Qianlong, Hong Kong, 1989, p. 306, pl. 135. See, also, a slightly larger bowl (15.9 cm) with similar glaze, but different anhua decoration, sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 28 November 2005, lot 1307.
