Lot Essay

This masterpiece embodies two recurring elements of fascination for the sculptor, those of the female form and of exotic animals. The theme of the two flamingoes draws to mind the famous model Les Amis Toujours which depicts a standing female figure flanked by two borzoi, whilst the female figure sitting cross-legged and in meditation is reminiscent of the sculptors other seminal work Civa.
